Seven deadly sins of fashion TAG!

Not too long ago I took part in a seven deadly sins of beauty tag. Although I am not much of a fashionista, when I was tagged by The Fashion It List to blog my fashion sins I knew I had plenty to share. 

1. Gluttony: What do you own in excess or extravagance in your closet?

Jumpers and hoodies. I am always cold and I love to be cosy at home so I spend a lot of time snuggled up in big jumpers. I don’t wear over half of them out of the house, they are purely for lounging purposes. I know it seems a bizarre clothing item to own in excess but considering the British weather they are a sensible choice! 

2. Greed: What type of clothing do you always have a desire to buy?

Anything maxi! I love maxi skirts and dresses, I feel so comfortable and feminine in them and they are really easy to wear, not to mention flattering!

3. Sloth: When you are getting ready to go somewhere but feeling too lazy to find something to wear, what is your go-to outfit?

Jeans, a long top/jumper, boots and a scarf. This for me is the ultimate dressed up yet casual outfit.

4. Wrath: What makes you angry when shopping?

That in the sale season everything is just piled up on the rails and no attempt is made to make the displays look good. I don’t like having to dig through everything (and everyone) to try and find something nice. I actually choose to do most of my sale shopping online for that reason.

5. Envy: Which celebrity's fashion sense or style do you most envy?

I actually envy fashion bloggers, like Dulce Candy and Buy now, blog later, more than celebrity’s. Bloggers style seems much more accessible and it helps that they buy clothes from some of the same places I shop in. 

6. Lust: Which store's outside appearance do you find most physically attractive, drawing you in?

I usually love the displays of department stores. They always have the most attractive and creative window displays, especially at Christmas time. Harrods and Selfridges are my favourite. 

7. Pride: Out of all the outfits you have put together, which are you most proud of?

Last summer, before my blog was solely beauty related, I did an outfit post wearing a play suit. I love how the outfit came together, I felt stylish, pretty, feminine and above all comfortable with what I was wearing. I’m just waiting for the right weather to rock this outfit again.

Irregular choice — Otters ankle boot

What better place to debut the newest addition to my boot collection than at LFWend? My sister and I stumbled across the brand Irregular Choice whilst waiting to meet Safira and Aysha at the Bourjois pop up shop.

The shop is colourful and full of the most creatively styled shoes and boots. They all have interesting heels, patterns and fabrics. As soon as these ankle boots caught my eye I loved them and even though I initially resisted, I ended up going back for them!

Unfortunately, I don’t have an outfit post to show how I styled the boots, but the colour and relatively simple design means that the boots can be used to dress up any simple outfit and give a more edgy look.

My favourite feature is the heel, which is 10cm tall and made from perspex. The heel colour fades from  black to clear and also has a leaf design. The height of the heel makes them relatively comfortable to walk around in all day. I also love the sole, I was actually sad to have to walk in them knowing that the sole would get ruined!

The boots also come in gold and purple shades (the purple in particular looks amazing!)

I would love to know if any of my readers are Irregular Choice fans? They aren’t a brand I had noticed in the past, but will be sure to have my eye on them now.

Primark Haul Spring/Summer Lovin'

I think all should have established now that I am a Primark Girl, I remember them ‘getting big’ around the time I started university. Although some seasons they are a big hit and miss, this spring I have really liked their offerings.

This recent spree sparked from me seeing one skirt on the fashion segment of ‘This Morning’ and heading out immediately to find it. Surprisingly I did, but it was stitched badly and didn’t sit well on the waist without making me look like I had very oddly shaped love handles. I didn’t find another in my size so I will continue looking out for it whenever I do pop in, but I have a feeling the problem will be the same. I haven’t actually seen many skirts of a same style, high-waisted/maxi with a floral print. I think maxi skirts are so flattering and I could picture the skirt looking very boho with a loose vest top, a big belt and flat shoes.

I can’t wait for the summer or at least some warmer weather to arrive so I can get out more skirts and dresses! Anyway, here is what I picked up instead.

I love this blue maxi, since last summer I wanted a black one for the purpose of adding lots of bright accessories to but I love this blue so much, and since it is plain, I should still be able to add lots of bold accessories to it and make it look different each time.

This summer dress also works well layered making it suitable for spring and even winter when it’s colder. It has more of a beige base with the black spots and then flower print. I don’t particularly like the belt attached, so will possibly end up ‘Gok’ styling this once I get some inspiration for it. 

I love this playsuit, as you can see I am liking the floral trend this year, but the black base means that it is not so bold for me that I would feel uncomfortable wearing it. It fits very well and is more flattering than others I have tried. I am really looking forward to wearing this in the summer, I may even wear it with tights in the spring time here but we’ll see how brave I will be! 

I love the colour of this coral top, although I don’t tend to like the look of the asymmetric cut it has, tucked into a skirt/trousers this actually looks very nice since it ends up being very loose and flowing. You can make out slightly in the image that the front and back are actually two different materials, although this is quite subtle and I don’t think it really adds anything to the top overall. 

Last but not least clothing wise, these wide leg trousers. I love the print, again a black base with large colourful flower print. This looks great teamed with the coral top above, and I can picture it looking well with a large belt, wedges, and an oversized cardigan, topped with an oversized hat and sunglasses (well that might be a step too far but hopefully you get the picture!). At the moment as much as I love to look at them I don’t want them to be something that end up sitting in the wardrobe because I am not brave enough to wear them!

Finally some accessories. I brought a black and a tan, skinny waisted belt to keep as wardrobe essentials, at £1 each I can’t really feel guilty about not having a need for them yet! I also went for a standard belt covered in coloured studs, again a slim style since I occasionally need something more discrete to hold my trousers up! I never usually go for ‘fashion socks’ but being inspired by some other blogs and people on the street I wanted to style these peaking over my shorter boots. Will hopefully post the result and get your impressions! Finally another purchase of something I may or may not be brave enough to wear, a feather headband. I think the feathers poking through my curls will give a nice look, especially since there is a trend for feather hair extension/accessories. 

I am headed to the vitality show this weekend and have promised myself to only potentially purchase anything new there and then hold off with the spending for a bit so this should be the last clothing haul for a while!

Weekend Outfits

I really want to do fashion posts, unfortunately I know my pictures leave a lot to be desired, however if you bare with me hopefully I can figure out a way to improve them. I decided to feature my outfits over this weekend, both pretty casual but still feminine and tidy.

Saturday - Casual day out shopping, this is one of my favourite outfits, simple but I always feel so smart in it.

Sunday - another casual day at home with family. I love this dress, it’s nice to start preparing for spring as much as I love my boot and jumper combos I am ready for the warmer weather, the cardigan is great at keeping me warm whilst it is still cold!

OMG that top!

I just thought I would share the story of the OMG top. Being a slightly obsessive Usher fan to have a top I can actually wear daily slyly showing my love suddenly became necessary having seen the slogan on a Topshop T-shirt.

So an eBay search was performed and I came across a beautiful river island oversized top. OMG printed lettering, size 10. Perfect. The day comes and I think I am clever waiting till the last minute to make a bid, of course I should have waited till the last second since I then got outbid! GUTTED. I then became a bit obsessed, I wanted a OMG top, no I NEEDED one. So I did another eBay search changing the wording a bit and came across one with similar lettering. The added bonus, it was cheaper than what I had bid for the other top! So I ordered that and it arrived the next day.

I love it, I got it in a M/L which is meant to be 12-14 but I had a feeling they may come up small which they did, so it is a lot more fitted at the bottom than the top but I can work with that. As shown in the image(sorry it’s back to front!) I probably will wear it off the shoulder with a nice coloured vest underneath since I don’t really like showing bra straps. It was only £7.99, under £10 in total with the postage and in this particular style there were 4 other colours.

The parcel was packaged up well, including a canvas bag advertising their website www.popcouture.co.uk. The website has a lot more to offer and very well laid out. I can’t tell if they will be the highest quality clothes (which they claim), but they may surprise me and they are very reasonably priced. They also state on their website that there designs are in-house and therefore have some individuality to them. I probably will do a repeat purchase directly from them they have a very good selection and a few of their handbags and dresses have caught my eye but I will save that for a few weeks.

I love my new top, I sat down last night having tried it on and was thinking how funny it was that I had set myself this mission and had to share. I’m started to see this trend in myself for ‘having’ to have something, but for £10 items I think I can afford not to worry about that too much.
